Surrealism At Play

This series was created during a course at the International Center of Photography (ICP), where we explored the emotional connections we form with everyday objects and how they become intertwined with memory and identity. Working with black-and-white film, we experimented with in-camera double exposures, darkroom photograms, composite printing, and layered negatives to combine portraits with meaningful personal belongings. Through these processes, objects begin to merge with the figures, becoming visual extensions of the people and the stories they carry. Many of these techniques were completely new to both of us, making this project a huge learning experience filled with experimentation, unexpected results, and discovery. Alongside themes of girlhood, dreams, and imagination, the series reflects on how the things we keep can quietly reveal parts of who we are.
