Patches From Home

This series is rooted in photographs taken in December 2025 in Costa Rica, my home, alongside my best friend. Having known each other since childhood, the images reflect childhood memories and a sense of loss that comes with the passage of time. They hold a familiarity while also acknowledging distance and change, moments that feel both past and present at once. My hope is to invite the viewer into a space where personal histories can quietly surface, without being fully fixed or defined.

Embroidery is incorporated directly into the images, treating the photograph as both surface and extension. Words, mostly in Spanish, are stitched into the work as fragments of language that echo internal reflections tied to the act of returning home. Cross-stitch also introduces a different visual rhythm, adding layers of texture that sit somewhere between repair and interruption. The act of stitching becomes a way to slow down and remain with the image over time. Through this process, I hope to invite the viewer to move between what is visible and what is suggested, allowing space for their own associations to unfold.
