Layered Light

Created through analog darkroom techniques, this series explores the relationship between portraiture, texture, and light. Portrait negatives were combined with separately photographed fabrics and patterns in the enlarger, allowing multiple images to exist within a single print. Rather than using texture as decoration, the layered compositions transform familiar materials into abstract forms that interact with the figure, creating photographs that blur the boundaries between surface and subject. Through experimentation with shadows, pattern, and the physical process of printing, the work embraces the unpredictable nature of image-making and the expressive possibilities of the darkroom.
