Between Layers

This series explores portraiture as a space for experimentation, where light, color, texture, and gesture shape the image as much as the subjects themselves. Working within the studio, we approached each photograph as a constructed composition, carefully considering how clothing, fabric, and lighting could transform the body into a study of form and atmosphere.

Rather than using double exposure as a purely technical effect, we incorporated it to introduce subtle shifts in perception. The layered images suggest movement, multiplicity, and moments that exist between stillness and motion. Throughout the series, portraiture becomes less about documenting an individual and more about exploring how visual elements can alter our experience of a figure, creating photographs that balance precision with experimentation.
